Happy Birthday, Aunt Bev!
Yep, our second day in the Empire State was also Aunt Beverly's birthday. Unfortunately, the choices for available restaurants were exactly one: Ye Olde Sawdust Cafe. I can safely say that my chicken 'n' biscuits was the second worst restaurant meal I've ever eaten (second only to the dish I had in Portugal that involved raw eggs). The chicken was rock hard, the biscuits were bland, and the gravy might have been scraped out of the oilpan of the '67 Chevy rusting away in the back yard of the place.
But it was still kind of fun! I drank beer, Barb and Frank drank "white wine" that was suspiciously pink, and Elizabeth stared slackjawed at the TV playing some old western.
On the walk home we had some genuinely wholesome, good times as Barb and her Dad walked and talked, Elizabeth and Beverly walked and talked, and the girls stopped to pick roadside flowers.

Aunt Bev and Suzanne puzzling it out. |

Dinner at the Sawdust Cafe: it was bad, but not as bad as this picture makes it out to be! I look like I'm in one of the lower circles of Hell, and Bev kinda looks like she wants to punch someone. |

Didn't get three stars in the Michelin Guide. |

Wholesome! |

Not the greatest picture in the world, but gives you an idea of what a lovely night it was. |

Quality time. |
