New York 2012: Day One

Bette's Place is great, but it will be so much greater when we don't have a child over whom we have to fret as soon as she gets near the water. I feel that we were much more "chill" (as the kids say -- or said in 1983) with Suzanne than we were a few years ago with Elizabeth. Suzanne regularly went onto the dock without an adult present, and never went into the drink. Still: scary.

Luckily, both girls made great progress with their swimming thanks to the lake, McKenna, and Connor (not necessarily in that order). And then that progress was reinforced by four straight weeks of swim lessons in Creston Pool.

The modern gentleman's traveling kit: smartphone, portable speaker, Zune, handkerchief, specie, knife, chronograph, and, of course, monkey puppet.
First boat ride of the trip. And, possibly, the last time the canoe went out.

If Sister is paddling a canoe, Suzanne wants to paddle a canoe.

Here there be leeches.

New York is gorgeous!

Last Gasp of Summer

Sunset the first night.   It's been a good summer, but certainly more constrained than usual due to the COVID-19 pandemic...
