Coziness
Possibly my favorite part of the day is bedtime. The girls are tuckered out, Barb and I get some time to ourselves, to talk or read, or simply to stare at the beautiful sleeping baby, occasionally murmurring to each other, "Isn't she cute?"
Pot o' Gold
At Barb's moms group they had a St. Paddy-themed photo shoot. Here is one of the models asleep on the set. As you can see, the Binky Baby has turned into a full-on thumbsucker.
Grandma and Baby Suzanne
On St. Patrick's Day, Grandma came over to eat corned beef and cabbage, and to enjoy some quality time with the girls. She and Suzanne had a nice time together, as evidenced by this photo. Look at that smiley baby!
Funny thing is, I can't remember who took this photo: Elizabeth or me.
Dimple!
Suzanne's got a cute asymmetrical dimple that I was able to capture with the camera yesterday when we visited the Chinese Garden.

Elizabeth Rose: Photographer
About a year ago Elizabeth took her first photo using our camera. Only recently has she become interested again in photography. Every time she sees the camera now (and sometimes when she doesn't see it) she asks to take "Just one picture."
"Just one?" her parent asks.
"Just one. Or two. Five. Six. Eleven!"
Here are some of the pictures she took that I like, starting with a self portrait.
I think these pictures, and some others, are pretty cool. But I'm not pretending this is a demonstration of skill or talent by ERL. Probably not. But it is a testament to the incredible engineering of these cameras (ours cost less than $200) which, even in the hands of a toddler with absolutely no instruction, produce darn good photos.
I wonder if this proves Susan Sontag's thesis that photography is not art.

What A Mess!
Elizabeth delights in making big messes. Barb has always encouraged her to do "touch-play" with beans, pasta, etc. She certainly loves pouring her beans from one container to another, sorting them, etc. But sometimes the mess gets out of control. Recently she got into a box of spaghetti, and that was sort of a disaster.

Third Birthday
We had a fun birthday with Elizabeth.
We went to OMSI (the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, which is a lot more fun than its name might suggest).
Then went to an open house at the Blooming Garden pre-school, which Elizabeth might attend in the fall.
We wrapped up the day with a dinner party. Pancakes for the main course, chocolate cake for dessert.
By the time we got to opening presents, the birthday girl was all tuckered out.

Two Sisters
On the morning of Elizabeth's birthday, Barb got the two girls dressed up for the day. Whether by chance or planning, their outfits matched and they looked great together.
