Elizabeth had three balloons for her birthday and gave one each to Lily and Riley, her friends.

The Birthday Crown

Here is Elizabeth Rose, age 2, making her very own birthday crown. It's going to be a great day!

You sharp-eyed observers will note the scratch on her cheek and the band-aid on her finger. She's been having a rough weekend. On Friday, the birthday girl fell at a restaurant's play area and skinned her knuckle. Last night she had yet another run in with her nemesis, Baby Kitty. Baby scratched Elizabeth on the cheek, forearm, and leg. (We are considering getting Baby Kitty declawed.)

In this picture Elizabeth is in the Francises car with Elwood (pink bear), Jennifer (chunky monkey), and Joshi (stringy monkey). There is also a Billi (a stout pink bear) and a fifth Francis family member: Hippo (who is always part of the family and rides on top of their car).

Big Girl

 
Barb put Elizabeth in pigtails today and she looked so much like a girl and so much less like a baby. My baby is growing up!

Helper

 
Elizabeth is really quite helpful. She helps Barb cook and clean. She helps me take my shoes off. She gives us back- and foot-rubs. She's a good shopper. She helped us put lights on the Christmas tree.

The trick of it is, she has to want to. If she feels like she's being forced to do something (e.g., put on a diaper, put on clothes, ingest medicine), she screams bloody murder, becomes as limp as a pudding, and squirms like an eel. An eel made of pudding!
