Suzanne Happy, Suzanne Sad

Yesterday Suzanne had a great time with house guest Basil the Poodle. He even leapt into the car with her when it was time to go to Grandma's for dinner.

Today Suzanne, who loves insects, was stung by a bee on her thumb while conducting an entomological investigation.

Freewheelin'

At the breakfast table this morning we were talking about what we wanted to do with this beautiful Sunday. Suzanne said she wanted to learn how to ride her bike without training wheels.

So we went to Creston School, which has a big, smooth paved play area, and in a jiffy she was cruising around on two wheels. She's still got skills to master - starting, braking, steering - but what a great beginning to a lifetime of fun!

Rowena Crest

We enjoyed a gorgeous (pun intended) day in the Columbia River gorge checking out wild flowers.

Elizabeth got to use the family camera. She carried it the whole hike and took a lot of good pictures.
