Adirondack Vacation, Day 1 (May 27, 2011)

I've been slow to upload photos of the vacation. And in fact, I created a facebook album first, because the Scott Larrison Clan is more likely to see the pictures that way. Also, I'm shooting pictures faster than I can blog them. Case in point: the wedding of Elizabeth Rose Larrison and Joey The Monkey, which took place on 10 June. The photos are still on my phone. They're great. But I don't have time to transfer them to the friggin' PC and blog about them. I don't have time to get my hair cut, for goodness sake!

Ah, but let's harken back to the stress-free days of swilling beer in utter peace on the muddy shores of Lake Whatchamacallit. I can't speak for everyone, but I had a great time. I never don't like hanging out with my brothers; in fact, my single greatest regret about living on the West Coast is that I don't get to see enough of Mark and Scott. These days, I don't even get to telephone enough. But that should change as the baby matures into a... demanding... toddler... always asking for... Joey.... OK, so maybe not.

As you can see, Day One started with the water and concluded with dinner, boardgames, and dark magic. Typical Larrison vacation. The tale the photos fail to tell is the tale of the fish. Humongous amounts of fishing were done by Joshua and McKenna. Here's some evidence of the fact, if not incontrovertible truth:

Graduation!

Suzanne graduated Friday from Providence's New Moms Group. The mortarboard is cute, but the commencement address by Henry Kissinger seemed a bit overkill.

Elizabeth or Andrew?

The other weekend Elizabeth decided to play dress up, which isn't unusual. But she decided she would dress up as Daddy! I think she looks pretty good in my glasses, necktie, belt, and watch. And it's not very visible, but she's also got Daddy's cell phone to her ear.

All Girl Bath Time

Elizabeth and Suzanne (and often Barb) enjoy bathing together. Although, Suzanne has discovered the splashing capabilities of her hands, and enjoys causing quite a mess.

In this picture you can see the scratches Elizabeth sustained tumbling down the basement stairs at the Long-Loughran's after pillowfighting with Riley at the top of the stairs. Ouchie. Thank Goodness, she was only scratched and bruised, not broken by the fall.

That girl is tough as nails, I tell ya.

Toesucker

Yep, that's a toe flexible Suzanne is sucking on while hanging in Mom's sling.

Edit: OK, OK, it's not a foot. It's a hand. I'm dumb.

But what happened was, she really was sucking her toe, I took some bad pictures, then upon reviewing the pictures I saw this one and, on the phone screen mistook the hand-at-weird-angle as a foot. I blogged it from the phone and didn't see it big until it was already published, at which point it was pretty obviously not a foot/toe.

And, unfortunately, I deleted the other toesucking pictures because I had this one, which was much better.

Adirondack Vacation, Prologue

This picture tells two stories: one, that we had a great time seeing our upstate New York family (personified here by Scott); two, that the weather was awesome and we spent the vast majority of each day outside.

Number three, I guess, is that one can do a lot with a pocket camera if you figure out the tricky controls. I used the spot meter and slow-synchro flash here, exposing for the brightest part of the sky. Pretty cool.

Last Gasp of Summer

Sunset the first night.   It's been a good summer, but certainly more constrained than usual due to the COVID-19 pandemic...
