Little Crater Lake

Based on last year's very buggy experience, plus all this year's rain, I expected a mosquito armeggeddon upon our return to Little Crater Lake. Instead it was pure delight -- a few skeeters and flies, but no big deal; perfect weather; and the company of old friends (Riley, Teresa, Brian & Uncle Charlie) and new (Isabelle, Felix, and Tad).

The three kids got along pretty well and certainly kept each other occupied. All of them got some serious scrapes and scratches from roughhousing in the great outdoors, and they were all troupers about it.

I'm already looking to next year, when we'll have two more kids in the mix. Kate and June (working titles) will be about 8 months old.

Megacarnivore

Elizabeth loves meat, the bloodier the better. Barb is in the same boat, due to her pregnancy. With the twins inside her, Barb is charged with consuming a ridiculous quantity of calories every day. She needs to eat steak for breakast, bacon and eggs for mid-morning snack, chicken cordon bleu for lunch, milkshake and fries for afternoon treat, bacon-wrapped-shrimp with side of bacon for dinner, Ensure for dessert, and strawberry milkshake with fish & chips for a nightcap.

Elizabeth Rose is just along for the ride, but she's going to enjoy every minute of it.

The Sunday Show with Joey

Elizabeth and Daddy like to have coffee and stories together on a Sunday morning. Elizabeth has "white coffee" (hot milk -- usually in a mug; it was odd this morning that she requested it in a bottle). Daddy has his black coffee. They read the newspaper or, in today's case, listen to a pretend story from special guest Joey the Monkey!

Last Gasp of Summer

Sunset the first night.   It's been a good summer, but certainly more constrained than usual due to the COVID-19 pandemic...
